Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka shankar is a British and American sitar player. She also plays music. She was among the youngest and first female to win an award from the British House of Commons Shield she's received Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to perform live on stage and also act as a host at the awards ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging young star of the Indian sitar. She is the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. She spent her childhood bouncing back and forth from London to New Delhi. At the age of 13 when her first performance at New Delhi took place. At the age of 13, she finished her high school studies at Encinitas CA. Anouskha continues to have a bright performing and recording careers, despite being young. She frequently joins her father in performances this she's done for a number of years. In 1998 she released her debut self-titled album Anourag. The album was titled the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years after. She has appeared at many important venues across the world. Anoushka Shakar's work is not just limited to music. Bapi the The Love of My Live, a biography of a picture that was dedicating to her dad Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. In 2003, she appeared in Dance Like a Man as the Bharat Natyam artist. Anoushka is continuing to advance in her professional career, and will surely be other things to be expected from this talented lady. Anoushka Shakar, who was born in England spent a large part of her life between London Delhi. After moving to California she completed her high school. From the age of nine she started studying music with her father making her performing debut with the sitar 4 years later, at the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. As a part of her dad's band as his world tour, Anoushka had a wealth of experiences appearing on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens. She performed at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival as well as performing together with George Harrison. The House of Commons Shield was presented to her by the British Parliament as the top Asian Arts musician. She is the sole female and the youngest winner of the prize.
